Transfer files between devices quickly with File Transfer by Infinit

Android supports different types of file transfer between devices and the experience is not always pleasant. If you own an Android phone and a Mac, you would understand the pain in transferring files between these devices. Sometimes the bluetooth doesn't work, your phone isn't recognized to transfer files through a data cable or sometimes you wouldn't even have a data cable nearby. As common users, people would just want to send files from one device to another without having to pull their hair out in frustration.

File Transfer by Infinit takes a different approach and does a good job in transferring files. I have also tried apps like AirDroid and PushBullet. When I was using AirDroid few months ago, they had a monthly transfer limit (not sure if they still do) which was the reason I moved away from it. I came across PushBullet which is awesome for sending links from one device to another or even broadcasting to all devices. They also offer file transfer, but limit the file size to 25mb. With Infinit, it doesn't matter what kind of file it is, or what size the file is. You just select the file and the recipient and it just works. I tried to be realistic and sent a 2 hour podcast of about ~200mb back and forth between my Mac and my droid and it worked like a charm. The transfer was fast and easy. There's a simple login that you need to create in order for the app to identify you and other devices and once you do that you're good to go. The nice thing is all the files are saved to the Download directory in your phone, so it's easy to find them.

I even used Infinit to send this screenshot to my Mac :P

Ability to transfer files from one device to another is all great. But where Infinit really rocks is the speed. Let's look at what happens under the hood. Since Infinit uses a point-to-point technology, it doesn't upload the files to a cloud and later download from it on to another device. It just sends from one device to another through the shortest path. The speed comparisons on their website are mind blowing. Besides this, you can also pause and resume uploads/downloads which you seldom see in most other file transfer services. Do you have just a small file to send to a device? Or few big files? Files of different formats? Folders? Intermittently connecting to Internet? Infinit takes care of all these to make sure the files are transferred swiftly, safely and securely. Since files are transferred from one device to another without passing through a cloud it is less susceptible to get hacked. Plus, there's good encryption at both ends.

I love this app. The UI looks neat, simple to use and the file transfer is super fast and I'm sure I'd be using it for a long time. There's one thing I want to point out. It would have been great if devices could be paired so that I don't have to click on Accept every time I receive a file. Other than that, this app is awesome!

Add more elegance to your home screen with Muzei Live Wallpaper

Wallpaper is very important to me. Since I see it every single time I look at my phone, I'd like to have a beautiful, elegant wallpaper that makes me feel good whenever I wake up my phone. I used to search for wallpapers every once in a while since I used to get bored with the one I have and sometimes that search would go on and on and I would not be satisfied with anything I see. I finally stumbled upon Muzei and I instantly fell in love with it. Muzei is a live wallpaper app which changes wallpapers once a day or after a specific interval of time (that you've set in the Settings). Not finding it very special, huh? Here's the best part. The wallpaper is slightly blurred so that the widgets or icons on the homescreen stand out, thus making it very elegant looking. And when you want to see the actual wallpaper, you just have to double tap on the home screen. Double tapping would show you the wallpaper in full HD for few seconds, and it goes back to being a little blurry. Below are two images. The first one is the normal state when it is blurred and the second is after you double tap your homescreen.

I really love this kind of wallpaper because being blurry makes it look very beautiful and you also get to see the actual wallpaper whenever you want by just double tapping the home screen. Another thing about Muzei is that you can add plugins like 500px, NASA Astronomy picture of the day and so many others. So you can get to customize the category of wallpapers that you would enjoy and get fresh wallpapers every now and then.

Okay, okay. For those of you who say "Blurred wallpapers is not my cup of tea", you can change the Settings in the app where you have sliders to change blur, dim and grey levels. You also get notifications on new wallpapers and you can change them if you don't like it. The only gripe I have about this app is (although it's too little an issue to whine about), I can't select from multiple sources. I have 3-4 plugins installed, like, 500px, NASA Astronomy picture, etc. I can select only one of these and not more. But, I'm happy with the wallpapers I get on my phone and I'm not really complaining about it too much. Try it out and let me know your thoughts.

Sworkit - Your favorite workout companion

Yes. We all promise ourselves every year to lose weight or get fit and we also have the enthusiasm to enroll in a gym. Yet we see gyms flooded with people only in the first few weeks of January and then it gradually decreases. We give ourselves excuses that we don't have time for it and what not. But, of course, sometimes we have long days at office, really cozy weather in the morning that keeps us from getting up early and working out for a while. When it really comes down to that, how about an app that helps you do all sorts of exercises like cardio, stretching and yoga right at your home, and at your own convenience? Sworkit makes workout simple and convenient that once you start using it, it becomes your personal fitness trainer. So what makes it so special? The rich set of features it offers, the ability to customize and create your own set of workouts, helpful videos for each and every exercise and voice assistance. I really loved this app once I started using it. So let's dive in to see what it has to offer.

As you open the app, you'd see 4 broad categories to focus your workout on - Strength, Cardio, Yoga and Stretching. Each of these categories have subcategories. For example, Strength exercises will have full body, upper body, core strength, Cardio will have light warm up, full intensity and so on. There's a little info button on the top right that shows what each sub category focuses on. Once you select a sub category all you have to do is choose how many minutes you want to work out and that's it. Each workout has a picture showing how to do it so that you get an idea. In case you're new to a particular exercise there's a video button at the bottom that shows the video about how the workout is done. You can also pause the workout or skip it. As each workout ends, you'll be alerted about the next workout and will be given about 5 seconds to get in position for the next workout. And after every 5 workouts, you'll be given a break of 30 seconds.

If you don't want to focus on just strength, cardio or stretching, then you can choose the "Fit in 5 minutes" on the main screen and you'll get a good mix of workouts that you can do for 5 minutes. You also have the option to create a custom workout and add exercises of your choice. If you want to search for a particular exercise, then you should checkout the exercise list from the navigation menu on the left. It has huge list of exercises and videos for each of them. Speaking of videos, you need to be connected to Internet to watch videos, but fear not, there's an option in Settings to download all the videos (about 40mb) so that you can view them offline during workouts.

I like the app mainly because you don't really have to depend on a gym companion and you can do this right at home after you come back from school, college or work, or probably after you get out of bed in the morning. Even if you go to gym, you can use this as a warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes before beginning the work out. I really like the reminder feature wherein you can set daily reminders. You can track your progress. You can also connect this app to Google Fit or MyFitnessPal.

The only feature that I feel is lacking is that for each workout there should have been a picture that shows exactly which part of the body is being worked out like lower abs, lats, etc. The Lite version is free whereas the pro version costs $1.99, and I really recommend getting the pro version because it has tons of features that are not available in the Lite version.

Ready Steady Bang - Simplest "one tap" shooting game for Android!!!

Ready Steady Bang - A simple one tap shooting game for Android. Interface of this game will take you back to an era of 8 bit games. Looks more like a classical 8 bit game but acts faster than all of them. Ready Steady Bang is the simplest shooting game that I have ever come across for Android. All you have do is "tap", but yes you should get the timing right. Click on start and you will hear "ready", "steady" and "bang". The second you hear "bang" , the bullet should to be fired from your gun. Even if there is delay of few seconds, other guy will pull the trigger and you will die even before you realize. Best part of the game is, you don't have to worry about the aim or the ammo. It's just one enemy, one bullet and one shot. Person with fastest reflexes will win the game. Once you kill an enemy, you get to play with the next fastest bad guy.

Ready Steady Bang

2 player option is something cool in this game. 2 players can play using the same phone. I have not seen a shooting game with such minimalistic gameplay which is so addictive. Images put up in this post explains about the interface of the game. Kill gallery is the place where you can see all those enemies whom you have killed. It's doesn't just contain the pictures, it will show how the enemy died along with the moments. Playing this game will definitely improve your reflexes. Be the quickest and be the one who kills those fastest shooters.

Earn Free Google Play Credit With Google Opinion Rewards

Okay, I don't know how many of you know about this. But I just wanted to let people know about a nice and easy way to earn Google Play Store credit by doing almost nothing. Few months ago, I started using Google Opinion Rewards and answered surveys every now and then. Slowly I kept earning store credit roughly between $0.10 and $0.40 per survey and I used to buy apps with that money. I haven't spent real money on apps for a long time and I've been using Google Opinion Rewards. The app is very basic. It does only one thing; ask you to answer a survey which consists of 1 or 2 questions having multiple choices (of course, there's no right answer). And you get store credit for the questions you answer. For some questions you don't get any store credit and you will be notified about that before you take the survey. For every survey you can choose whether or not to answer the question. It's a nice app that doesn't bother you by constantly asking you to answer surveys. Usually you get a survey once a week or once in two weeks. So it's no big deal.

So basically you don't really have to do much other than few taps and you get free store credit. Of course, the credit you get for answering surveys is very less, but still you'd just spend 5 seconds doing it and over time you would accumulate a good amount. Easy money, eh? :)
